Error Codes

Meanings, severity levels, safe checks you can perform, and when to call a technician.

Enter the code shown on your refrigerator display

Is it safe to keep using it?

Depends on code severity. Low/Medium codes often allow continued use, High severity requires immediate stop.

Can error codes be reset?

Some codes clear after power cycle. Persistent codes indicate underlying issues needing repair.

When should I stop using it?

Stop immediately for water leak codes, burning smell, or any High severity error.

Low Medium High
Code Meaning Severity Common Symptom
6E Ambient Sensor Error Medium The error code 6E appears on the display. Cooling continues to work but adaptive features that depend on ambient temperature may behave incorrectly. View 13E Preserva Humidity Sensor Low Fruit and vegetables in the Preserva-managed compartment are either wilting (too dry) or showing condensation on their skins (too wet) because humidity can no longer be regulated properly. View CO Condenser Fan Fault High The condenser coil retains heat that the fan would normally dissipate, causing the bottom grill area and adjacent cabinet panels to become uncomfortably warm or hot to the touch. View DE Defrost Sensor Stall Medium A technician or the diagnostic mode temperature display shows the evaporator coil staying below freezing throughout the defrost window instead of climbing to the 40–50°F termination point. View E1 Freezer Sensor Out of Range Medium The display alternates between accurate-seeming readings and sudden spikes or drops that do not correspond to any change in door usage or ambient temperature. View E2 Fresh Food Sensor Fault Medium Without accurate temperature feedback, the control board regulates the fresh food section erratically — the section swings from too cold to too warm within normal operating hours. View F3 E2 Fresh Food Thermistor Failure High Lettuce, fruit, and beverages in the fresh food compartment are freezing even though the temperature setting is normal. The board is over-cooling because it cannot verify fresh food temperature. View FC Fresh Food Fan Fault Medium Without active air circulation from the fresh food fan, cold air sinks to the bottom and upper shelves warm toward ambient temperature, creating unsafe temperature zones for perishables. View FF Freezer Fan Fault High Ice cream softens and frost on food packages begins to melt as the freezer compartment warms due to inadequate forced-air circulation from the failed fan. View HRS High Resistance Sensor Medium A thermistor reading too high tells the control board the compartment is warmer than it actually is, causing the compressor and damper to over-cool the section until produce, beverages, and dairy begin to freeze. View PF Power Failure Detected Low As soon as the refrigerator reconnects to utility power, PF appears on the control panel and an audible alert may sound to draw attention. View PO Power Outage Warning Low The panel shows PO with an audible beep sequence immediately upon power restoration, indicating the board registered an outage interval. View RE Defrost System Error Medium A thick, uneven frost layer builds up on the evaporator coil over days or weeks, reducing heat-exchange efficiency and progressively strangling airflow. View SY CE System Communication Error High The compressor is audible but temperature-related commands from the main board are not reaching the evaporator or damper control boards, so cooling is ineffective. View SY EF Evaporator Fan Fault High The compressor is cooling the evaporator coil, but without the fan to push air over it, the cold never reaches the freezer compartment and temperatures climb steadily.
